Free summer meal program for children in Fairfax County
FAIRFAX, Va. — For those in Fairfax County struggling to feed their children now that school is out for the summer, there is hope. Beginning Monday, June 17, Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) Food and Nutrition Services will be serving free breakfast and lunch to anyone in the community age 18 or younger. Group protests VDOT plan to add express lanes to Woodrow Wilson Bridge
A proposal to add express lanes, and even Metro, to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge is getting some pushback from the Coalition for Smarter Growth. The Coalition says that, if enacted, the Virginia Department of Transportation’s 495 Southside Study will create traffic bottlenecks. They’re asking locals to voice their displeasure by emailing public officials, and say that the express lanes will not improve general traffic on the bridge and that more cars will avoid the bridge and spill onto local roadways.
