The Lakeridge boys lacrosse team picked up a pivotal league win over West Linn on Thursday, defeating the Lions 8-4 at Lakeridge High School.

The Pacers forced the Lions backs against the wall early, as Jacen Wilber scored a wrap-around goal in the first 15 seconds of the game to give his team a 1-0 lead they would never surrender.

Minutes later, Davis Reardon capitalized on a West Linn turnover and found Charlie Coyne over the middle to make it 2-0, further setting the tone.

The Lions would briefly claw back on goals by Tristan Goehring, Brody Jones and Lucas Thomsen, but Lakeridge was always ready with a quick response on Thursday, holding West Linn off for an 8-4 win to complete a season sweep over the Lions.

Wilber and Jake Hurley led the way for the Pacers with two goals each, including Wilber’s crowd-pleasing game-opener, while Jones scored twice for West Linn.

Meanwhile, Sean McCarty and Tristan Martin added goals for Lakridge, which improved to 15-2 on the season and 7-0 in Three Rivers League play with the win.

With the loss, West Linn fell to 7-9 and 3-4.

The Pacers and Lions will be in action again next week, as West Linn hosts Lake Oswego on Tuesday, and Lakeridge also hosts the Lakers on Friday.
