Veterans Memorial Bridge in Littleton honors those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Despite the fact that a parade did not roll through the community this Memorial Day, it’s fitting that the bridge remained the center of the ceremony.

Courtney Rohrig inducted into the VPA Hall of Fame
LUDLOW, Vt. – The Vermont Principal’s Association (VPA) held the Hall of Fame induction ceremony honoring the 2024 inductees. The event took place on Friday, May 10, at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Conference Center in Montpelier, Vt. Among the 12 candidates being honored was former Black River High School standout athlete Courtney Rohrig. Recognized as a three-sport athlete for Black River High School from 2006-2010, Rohrig was instrumental in the success of the soccer, basketball, and softball teams. In soccer, Courtney scored 142 goals, along with 50 career assists, leading her team to three straight championships. She was also named to the Lion’s Cup Soccer team, and was recognized as an all-state player three years in a row. In basketball, she scored 1,684 points and earned all-league honors four straight years. A four-year starter in softball, she possessed a strong arm playing center field, and she set a school record with 35 home runs, claiming three straight Division IV State Titles.

Trooper involved in Berlin crash
BERLIN, Vt. (WCAX) - Authorities say a Vermont State trooper sustained minor injuries following a two-car crash Friday morning in Berlin. It happened around 7:19 a.m. at the intersection of Route 62 and Fisher Road near the Central Vermont Medical Center. Vermont State Police say Trooper Dalton Maenpaa was responding to a reported overdose emergency when he went through a red light and his cruiser was hit by another vehicle.
Vermont nonprofit concerned about future buyer of Goddard College campus
Plainfield, VT- In just a few weeks Goddard College will close its doors, and the future of the campus itself remains unclear. A nonprofit called Cooperation Vermont has offered to buy the campus, but it says the Board of Trustees wants to sell it to a corporate real estate developer. Cooperation Vermont is based in Marshfield, just one town over from Goddard College in Plainfield, and they say they want to use the campus as a community resource, but the Board of Trustees hasn’t shown much interest in their offer.
Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity opening a ReStore in Waterbury
Vermont Business Magazine Waterbury will soon open its first ReStore. The store will be owned and operated by Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity. According to store manager Harold Blake, its grand opening is scheduled for June 7th. The nonprofit has brought one full-time position, one part-time position, and will bring one additional part-time position to the area.
NH hiker rescued after falling, suffering injury on White Mountains trail
A New Hampshire hiker was rescued Tuesday night after falling and injuring themselves on a trail in the White Mountains. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said they received a report around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday of an injured hiker on the Falling Waters Trail in Franconia. A 911 caller said a 41-year-old woman had fallen and suffered a lower leg injury and could no longer continue without assistance.
