Nineteen years in a row winning recognition for gourmet pizza? That’s a serious achievement in a food category where almost everyone has a strong opinion. I have to admit, that kind of winning streak makes me curious about what’s coming out of the oven. The New Hampshire pizzeria...

That’s a lot of scenery packed into a single trail, especially when the route follows a piece of transportation history. Sunday brunch inside a courthouse built in 1826? That’s an unusual dining setting, especially when the building once served a completely different purpose. I like the idea of enjoying a relaxed meal somewhere that has witnessed nearly two centuries of local history. The former courthouse has been transformed into...

In this case, we had gone to Newfound Lake in early September to enjoy the spectacular early Fall weather. That drive takes us right through Franklin, NH (where we usually stop at Vulgar Brewing Company), but this time we had a different destination in mind: Maaz’s Chicken.

HOLDERNESS — Squam Lakes Natural Science Center welcomed a young male American black bear into its care. The black bear cub was found abandoned along a divided highway in Utah when he was just a few months old. It is assumed that he got separated from his mother when she jumped over the concrete road divider and he could not. He was brought to a wildlife rehabilitation facility in Utah, where staff cared for him before determining that he could not be released back into the wild. In keeping with the Science Center's tradition of naming its animals after their geographic origins, he is named Wasatch, after the Wasatch Mountain Range in Utah.
