Massachusetts man accused of assaulting infant in Maine

A Massachusetts man allegedly assaulted an infant in Wells last week.

Matthew Fowler, 34, of Haverhill, Massachusetts, was charged with aggravated assault, according to the Wells Police Department.

Authorities were called to 395 Post Road on Wednesday for a lethargic infant, Well police said. That’s the address for Ne’r Beach Motel.

First responders administered care to the infant.

Fowler was arrested Friday after an investigation. He was taken to the York County Jail in Alfred.

No additional information was immediately available.
