Greyhound moves to Augusta Transit hub, expanding travel options
Travelers in Augusta will have access to both local and interstate bus transportation from a single location after a new partnership between Augusta Transit and he parent company of bus line Greyhound. The agreement focuses on expanding access to Greyhound’s interstate bus network through the city’s existing transit center. Under the agreement, Greyhound will use space previously occupied by Southeastern Stages, including a customer service and ticketing counter, boarding bay and baggage storage area. City officials expect the partnership to make travel more convenient by bringing local and long-distance bus services together at one location. The deal also is expected to strengthen transportation connections in and near Augusta while generating revenue for Augusta Transit through lease payments. “This partnership gives residents and visitors another convenient transportation option while making better use of our existing transit facility,” Augusta Transit Director Sharon Dottery said in a statement.

So, for a month or two, use of the 2.35-mile road, its bike lanes and its 5-foot-wide sidewalks may be a “locals only” situation. Google’s satellite layer image...
