APRIL 19: WESTPORT LEGION FISH FRY

American Legion Post 481 in Westport will serve fish and shrimp dinners from 5 pm to 8 p.m. April 19. A full bar is available, and carry-outs are always welcomed. The post is at W. River Road and Hwy. 113 next to Taylor’s Liquor Store. It opens at 3 p.m. For information, call (608) 849-7480.

APRIL 20: LEARN TO WEAVE

Fiber artist and Madison local, Courtney Cosgriff, will lead a workshop on frame loom weaving at 10 a.m. April 20 at the Waunakee Public Library. Participants will learn various stitches and materials to complete a woven wall hanging to take home. Cost is $5 to pay at the door. Registration is required by contacting the library.

APRIL 21: SPRING TEA PARTY

In honor of National Tea Day, join Waunakee Public Library Sunday, April 21, at 1 p.m. for a Tea Party celebration. A few traditional kitchen tea games will be played to provide an opportunity to get to know your neighbors. Light snacks and tea will be served.

APRIL 22: FAREWELL TO HERITAGE

The Waunakee Community School District invites the public to a Community Open House to say goodbye to Heritage Elementary with a nostalgic last look before the school moves to the new campus next year. The open house will be from 6-7:30 p.m. April 22 at the school, 501 South St.

APRIL 23: MENTAL HEALTH AND SUICIDE PREVENTION

Two experts will present strategies to lead a healthy life and support those around us struggling from mental health challenges at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, at the Waunakee Public Library. Melissa Olsen and John Weiss, co-owners and therapists at the Psychotherapy Center of Waunakee, will host the discussion.

APRIL 24: SCHOLARSHIP DRIVE

On Wednesday, April 24, the WHS Senior Class participants will canvas the Waunakee Community to raise scholarship money. As students canvas the community, they will be wearing a shirt, sweatshirt, and/or hat representing their post-secondary education institution. Donations can also be made online through the District’s fundraising site, https://www.classmunity.com/waunakeewi/view-fundraiser.php?fundraiser_id=2394 or checks can be made payable to: Waunakee Scholarship Fund and mailed to: Waunakee Scholarship Fund, 301 Community Drive, Waunakee WI 53597. The scholarship committee’s goal this year is to raise $55,000.

APRIL 25: FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY MEETING

The Friends’ upcoming Antiques/Vintage/Collectibles and Used Book Sale will be one topic of discussion at the next meeting of the Friends of Waunakee Public Library. It will be at 6:30 p.m. April 25 in the Overlook (2nd floor) at the library and include drawings for door prizes. Please bring a new Friend. Everyone is welcome. APRIL 28: COMMUNITY AWARDS BANQUET

The 50th annual Community Awards Dinner will celebrate individuals who make a difference on April 28 from 4-6 p.m. at Rex’s Innkeeper. The community is invited and can register to attend by contacting the Waunakee Chamber at (608) 849-5977 or email office@waunakeechamber.com. Tickets are $25. Attendees will support over 15 local service organizations as they acknowledge the invaluable contributions of individuals and groups who selflessly give their time, skills, and resources to make a positive impact in the Waunakee/Westport area.

APRIL 30: BOATING CLASS

The Madison Sail and Power Squadron will lead a DNR certified boating class at the Waunakee Village Center, meeting Thursdays from April 30 — May 16. Students who complete the written exam at the end of the course will earn a DNR safe boating certificate. To register online, go to www.waunakee.com/recreation .
