NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — Yale New Haven Health Services signed an agreement on Wednesday to acquire Prospect CT Inc.’s three Connecticut hospitals.

The three hospitals include Waterbury Hospital, Rockville General Hospital and Manchester Memorial Hospital.

Officials said this agreement ensures that residents of the above towns will have access to safe and affordable health care. The hospitals will also continue providing services and preserve local jobs.

Gov. Ned Lamont said in a statement that he is happy the agreement was made.

“I am glad that all the parties have been able to reach an agreement on this transaction in a way that ensures that the residents who live in each of the hospitals’ host communities will continue to have local access to essential medical care, and the jobs of the employees who provide this care will be preserved under this new ownership,” Lamont said in a statement.

The agreement has a few key conditions including, a minimum investment of $6 million to enhance mental health services and substance use disorder treatments over the next three years.

Additionally, Yale New Haven Health Services will be required to collaborate with the Connecticut Department of Social Services to improve access to specialty physician services for Medicaid patients.

“We are confident that we’ve come to an agreement that is in the best interest of the residents of Connecticut, which has been our priority since receiving this application,” said Dr. Deidre Gifford, executive director of the Office of Health Strategy.
