WARRINGTON TOWNSHIP, PA—Warrington Township emergency responders and civilians were honored for working together earlier this year to save someone having a heart attack inside Wegman’s.

On Jan. 17, Warrington police, emergency medical services and firefighters arrived at Wegman’s to find someone experiencing cardiac arrest. Pharmacy staff from Wegman’s were performing CPR and using the AED machine to defibrillate the patient.

While the patient was in cardiac arrest for 30 minutes, they were successfully resuscitated by the time the ambulance arrived at the hospital. The individual has since made a full recovery.

In a statement, Warrington police credited the successful outcome to the joint efforts of both Wegman’s staff and emergency responders, who arrived at the store within minutes of receiving the call.

The two Warrington police officers who were on the scene, Officer James Umile and Officer Ryan Light, attended a ceremony at the Wegman’s on Tuesday to recognize everyone involved.
