    Former Warren cop indicted on more rape charges

    WARREN, Ohio (WKBN)- The former Warren cop accused of sexually assaulting women on the job is facing even more charges.

    Michael Edwards, Jr. is now facing 24 total counts after a superseding indictment was handed down Tuesday morning.

    The new indictment includes five new rape charges with sexually violent predator specifications. It also lists two new victims, bringing the total number of victims to six.

    According to court records, the alleged rapes date back to December 2019. Edwards’s other charges include sexual battery, theft in office, dereliction of duty, extortion, gross sexual imposition, and menacing by stalking.

    He is scheduled to be back in court Wednesday afternoon.
