(WKBN) — Some schools in the Valley won’t have class this Thursday, but it’s not just because the districts want to give students and staff an extra day of spring break.

Southington Local Schools Superintendent Rocco Nero says the district is having issues with its internet and phone lines. Classes are canceled for Thursday, March 28. Classes are scheduled to resume April 3 following spring break.

Warren City Schools are also reporting that classes for Thursday, March 28, are canceled due to the outage, but staff must report.

McDonald Local Schools Superintendent Kevin O’Connell says classes in McDonald Schools are canceled for Thursday, March 28, as well.

Classes for Hubbard schools are canceled for Thursday, March 28.

Howland Schools will not have classes on Thursday, March 28.

Liberty Schools are closed on Thursday, March 28, due to the outage.

Classes on Thursday are canceled for Champion Local Schools, however, Superintendent John Grabowski says athletic events are still slated to go on as planned. Should this change, coaches will reach out to their teams.

According to O’Connell and Grabowski, the closures are due to a system outage within Northeast Ohio Management Information Network — or NEOMIN — which provides internet, telephone and software services to the districts. Grabowski says services are not expected to return until late Thursday.

Closings are being updated in real-time on our closings and delays page .
