The 43-year-old East Longmeadow man accused of using his cell phone to film an underage girl while she used a dressing room is out on a $50,000 bond. Felix Ramirez, a lieutenant with the Connecticut Department of Correction, waived his right to an extradition hearing in Palmer District Court before being brought to the Enfield Police Department on Friday, according to Enfield police Lt. Keith Parent. The exhibition explores the beauty and spirituality of Orthodox icons and Mexican retablos, devotional works of art with similar themes but different materials, styles, and iconographies. Guest curated by Dr. Elizabeth Calil Zarur, the exhibition is grouped into four themes: the joy of the Annunciation; the loving tenderness of the Mother and Child; the suffering and death of Jesus on behalf of humankind; and documented miracles, or ex-votos. This installation encourages visitors to compare these sacred paintings and to explore these two styles of devotion through diverse materials, themes, and artistic expressions. Saving lives: Quabbin High student spreads awareness of drug overdose and addiction
HUBBARDSTON ― For Quabbin Regional senior Matthew Cornell, the fentanyl crisis across Massachusetts became a call to action. Quabbin Regional High School requires all seniors to do a capstone community service project in order to graduate. During one of his capstone classes, Cornell was talking with his friends about how rapidly fentanyl overdoses have increased in the last year across the country.
