One dead after fatal Thursday morning crash

WAPAKONETA, Ohio (WDTN) — A fatal crash is being investigated by the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened minutes before 3 a.m. on Thursday morning.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSP), the Wapakoneta post of OSP responded to the two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. 33 and Bay Road in Moulton Township of Auglaize County.

An initial investigation indicated that a 2010 Honda Accord struck the rear of a Kenworth tanker. The impact of the crash caused both occupants of the Accord to be ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the Accord was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger of the vehicle was taken to a local hospital for “serious injuries.” The driver of the Kenworth was not injured in the crash.

The crash is under an on-going investigation by the Wapakoneta Post.
