WACO, TX ( FOX 44 ) — The Baylor Baseball team is still in search of its first Big 12 win, as the Bears came up on the short end of a pitcher’s duel against No. 24 Texas Tech on Friday night.

The game was one in which the Bears trailed from the top of the first to the bottom of the ninth, as the Red Raiders took an early lead on a hit by pitch and never looked back on their way to a win.

Despite picking up the loss, Baylor starter Mason Marriott put in another strong performance, as he allowed just two earned runs over five innings, while the Bears bullpen pitched another shutout.

The lineup on the other hand, struggled mightily and never had an answer for Tech starter Kyle Robinson, who allowed just three hits over seven innings.

The two teams will now get set for game two of the weekend series, with first pitch set for Saturday, March 16th at 2:00 pm.
