County by County: Alma, the Strawberry Capital of Wisconsin
ALMA CENTER, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – The village of Alma Center is about 15 minutes north of Black River Falls, and has been known as the “Strawberry Capital of Wisconsin” for decades. Alma Center Lions Club treasurer, Don Forsting, says that the town received the nickname due to the abundance of strawberry patches that were in the area a long time ago.

Charges: Suspect brought drugs into jail after chase
A high-speed chase began in Kenyon and ended in Faribault Sunday, charges allege. A motorist reported a driver later identified as Dustin Charles Adams Powell, 36, of Red Wing, was driving recklessly and nearly caused a crash on Highway 52, according to a court complaint.
