Mondovi rallies from early deficits to down Regis in playoffs

MONDOVI — Noah Laber broke free on a 75-yard touchdown run on the game's first play from scrimmage. Laber scored again on a 7-yard run on the first play of the second quarter. Outscored and humbled 38-0 in a regular season thumping by Mondovi, the Eau Claire Regis Ramblers were determined to come back strong. And they did exactly that Friday night in a Level 3 state quarterfinal football matchup with the favored Buffaloes. But top-seeded Mondovi (11-1) kept its composure before earning a hard-fought 27-12 win to capture a Division 6 sectional championship. The Buffaloes advance to face Kenosha St. Joseph Catholic in next Friday's semifinal round in Waupaca. "We knew Regis was going to come in here and battle and compete," Mondovi coach Craig Loscheider said. "They definitely made us earn this. Our kids fought back and stuck to the game plan. JC Sheriff Investigating ACHMHS Threat

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department says they’re investigating a threat at the Alma Center Lincoln High School. School officials reported finding a handwritten message in a bathroom indicating a threat to teachers on a specific date. Authorities say the school district took precautions per their policy and made notifications to the community. Investigators reviewed security footage and conducted interviews, identifying a suspect who was taken into custody. The suspect was an employee of the school district. They were booked into the Jackson County Jail on Terroristic Threats. The case remains under investigation.
