Vienna mayoral candidate raises concerns about Jackson Park pool efforts
VIENNA — Vienna mayoral candidate Chad Emrick estimated the city of Vienna has spent $8.5 million to date on the Jackson Park pool at his town hall Thursday evening. Emrick said he submitted a Freedom of Information Act request regarding invoices and service orders for the pool and had all of those documents available for citizens to look at during the event.

Little Hocking and Marietta Fire Departments train for dive team recertification
MARIETTA, Ohio (WTAP) - On the morning of June 9, two Washington County fire departments gathered at the pond across from the Washington County Career Center in Marietta. “Marietta Fire Department and Little Hocking Fire Department go together and train together,” said Little Hocking Volunteer Fire Department Chief Mike Chevalier. “So, today they’re doing their actual dive training and getting recertified for rescue diving one.”
Southwood Pool holds grand re-opening, slide not quite ready yet
PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Thursday was the grand reopening for the Southwood Pool in southside Parkersburg. The pool was closed all last year for a $5 million renovation. It was free to get in and there were free snow cones, hot dogs, and a DJ. Some of the new features include fresh concrete decking, new fencing, improved lighting and more.

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) - Rain showers have ended as the second cold front moved through overnight. Today, high pressure is going to be moving in leading to a very sunny day. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s today which is fairly average for this time of year. We have also been dealing with sticky conditions due to dewpoints in the mid to upper 60s, but those are also lower which will make today feel even better. It will be a little on the breezy side at times this afternoon due to the change in pressure but that is expected to calm down in the evening. Winds are expected to be between 10 and 15 mph in the afternoon with some gusts around 20 mph. The high pressure is going to keep the dry weather around for the start of our weekend as highs sit around 80 degrees for both days.

Picture This: Civitan Park pond repairs get underway
BELPRE — The city of Belpre began work in mid-May to repair and restore the Civitan Park Pond after years of leaks. The work is being funded by an Ohio Department of Development grant for $100,000 which the city received in early May. MARIETTA — An historic building in Marietta recently received funding to redevelop it into office, retail and residential space. Ataraxia Properties Inc. received funding in late May from Appalachian Community Capital through its Opportunity Appalachia program for a project to renovate the Glass Press Building located in Marietta, according to Ataraxia President Grant Schneider.
