Maries County Sheriff's Office draws attention to cold case murder of a Dent County woman
The Maries County Sheriff’s Office is shining a light on the cold case murder of a Dent County woman. The Sheriff’s Office shared a message from Project: Cold Case on social media this morning. In March of 2015, Rosalee Byrd, 81, was found suffering from blunt force trauma to her head in her home in the 900 block of McGrath Lane in Salem. Authorities say she was hit in the head with a hammer. She was taken to a hospital and died that same day.
Woman accused of Osage County robbery found trapped in bathroom
OSAGE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ) A Warrensburg woman has been charged with two felonies after she allegedly tried to rob a business in Osage County on Thursday. Allison Leann Hale, 33, was charged with second-degree robbery and first-degree property damage. She is being held at the Osage County Jail without bond, according to Casenet. Texas-state man seriously injured in suspected DWI crash in Rolla
A Texas-state man is seriously injured in an early morning alcohol-related crash in Rolla. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says Manuel Escamilla-Cardenas, 50, of Irvin, Texas, was driving down I-44 just before 1:00 this morning, when he ran off the side of the road. Troopers say Escamilla-Cardenas struck a concrete barrier and overturned several times.
Jury trial scheduled for Dixon man accused of setting his house on fire with people inside
A Pulaski County man accused of setting his own house on fire while four people slept inside is scheduled for trial. Alexander Aguayo, of Dixon, is accused of setting fire to combustible materials in his bedroom in September. Those inside the house when the fire was set told fire investigators that when they exited the home, they observed Aguayo standing outside the home smiling. He then left the area but was arrested about an hour later and charged with first-degree arson. Court records state Aguayo admitted to starting the fire.
State Fire Marshal investigates cause of fire that destroyed Newburg home
A fire that caused significant damage to a Phelps County home remains under investigation. The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District reports 911 began receiving numerous calls early Saturday morning about heavy fire showing from a residential structure near Newburg High School. When crews arrived, they located a large two-story home with heavy fire showing from the first floor and extending to the second floor and the attic.
