Two Crisp County deputies awarded Act of Heroism Award following active shooting at local bar
CRISP COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) -- Two Crisp County Deputies are being honored by the state in recognition of bravery they have displayed in the line of duty. In October of 2022, Deputy Kendall Evans and Corporal Jack Masters rushed into an active shooter scenario at the 16 East Bar and Grill in Cordele that left multiple people wounded and arrested the shooter. The scene was extremely active at the time, with patrons of the bar still crowding the doors to escape.

Local Smyrna Resident Sentenced to 30 Years for Child Molestation Charges
On November 17, 2023, Cobb County District Attorney Flynn D. Broady, Jr. stated that Carlos Eduardo Diaz, a 38-year-old Smyrna, Georgia resident, admitted guilt to child molestation and aggravated molestation charges.
