In October of 2022, Deputy Kendall Evans and Corporal Jack Masters rushed into an active shooter scenario at the 16 East Bar and Grill in Cordele that left multiple people wounded and arrested the shooter. The scene was extremely active at the time, with patrons of the bar still crowding the doors to escape.

Broady, Jr. stated that Carlos Eduardo Diaz, a 38-year-old Smyrna, Georgia resident, admitted guilt to child molestation and aggravated molestation charges.
