Elko shooting leaves one hospitalized, HCSO searches for suspect
ELKO, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — The Houston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that left one victim hospitalized Sunday evening. The Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened just before 6 p.m. at 332 East Highway 26 in Elko, where they found one victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

Cobb District Attorney Flynn D. Broady, Jr. acknowledged the National Day of Remembrance for Murder Victims, which Congress established in 2007. This day, observed on September 25, was started by Robert and Charlotte Hullinger, founders of Parents of Murdered Children. They began this after their daughter Lisa was killed in Germany in 1978.

Houston County Sheriff's Office: One injured after shooting in Elko
HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. — A man is on the run after allegedly shooting someone on 332 E. Highway 26 in Elko, according to the Houston County Sheriff’s Office. The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. on Sunday. The victim was shot and taken to a local hospital where they are in stable condition.
GSP: 2 dead in Americus head-on collision
AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) - Georgia State Patrol (GSP) investigated a collision that happened earlier this week that killed two people. At around 10:35 p.m. on Tuesday, the drivers of a Nissan pickup truck and a Ford F-150 were involved in a head-on collision near the 1600 block of N. Martin Luther King Blvd. The crash resulted in the deaths of both drivers.

On September 13, Highland Rivers Behavioral Health hosted a symposium about suicide among veterans. Called “It Takes a Village to Combat Veteran Suicide,” the symposium sought to examine the personal and societal conditions that result in the suicide deaths of some 22 veterans every day in the U.S.
Cobb County's Emergency Communications Department Introduces Logan's List for Residents with Special Needs
Cobb County's Department of Emergency Communications (DEC) has initiated a new database, Logan's List, to help identify and assist residents with special needs. The database is a voluntary effort to inform emergency responders about special needs individuals in homes. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed Logan's List into law in May 2021. The law was inspired by a Georgia teenager with autism. Cobb DEC Director, Melissa Alterio, mentioned that the database would inform responders about the individuals' conditions before they arrive at the scene.
