With a new hotel nearly ready to open and another under construction, Victorville leaders approved a third new hotel within yards of each other.
The proposed 152-room, five-story Residence Inn Marriott Hotel will sit near the northeast corner of Bear Valley Road and Mariposa Road, north of the existing WSS shoe store, according to the city.
The Residence Inn Marriott will also sit adjacent and west of the Avid Hotel, which is presently under construction, and behind Dutch Bros. Coffee and Super Star Car Wash.
The Avid Hotel is situated about 500 feet southwest of the nearly completed Fairfield by Marriott on the corner of Cottonwood Avenue and Monarch Boulevard.
On March 13, Victorville Planning Commission discussed the Residence Inn Marriott Hotel project, which included plans from applicant Robert F. Tuttle Architects.
With nearly 102,736 square feet of floor area, each room at the Residence Inn will include kitchen facilities, a dining area, an office workspace, sofa seating, a television, closets, and a restroom
Hotel amenities include meeting rooms, a fitness center, a pool, a patio area with cooking facilities and a fireplace, a dining hall, a laundry, and a small guest market.
The Residence Inn will be accessed from existing shared access driveways from both Mariposa Road and Bear Valley Road.
The site plan has been designed to only include 122 parking spaces on-site, with the project utilizing 35 spaces on the adjacent WSS site.
The WSS store was previously home to John’s Incredible Pizza and was designed and built with more parking than required for retail sales.
The three new hotels will be near three existing hotels, including the three-story Comfort Suites and four-story Extended Studio Hotel, both on Monarch Boulevard.
Additionally, the two-story Travelodge is located nearby on Mariposa Road and near the Victor Bowl.
Fourth new hotel
A new four-story, 98-room Wyndham Garden Hotel will be constructed east of Interstate 15 on Amargosa Road near Desert Escape and Restaurant Row in Victorville.
The Wyndham will occupy the last available undeveloped pad in the southern portion of the Dunia Plaza Shopping Center.
The Wyndham Hotel will be situated near the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham Hotel and BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse.
