Fellow Verona resident Nico Spatz received third place in the Pre-K to 2nd Grade Category.

The contest combined lessons in art and conservation to raise awareness about the environment and waste prevention. The Essex County Department of Parks and Recreation says the contest also utilized nonrecyclable plastics from the waste stream, intending to transform them into public art.
