    Chemical plant fire in Verona, Mo. flames knocked down quickly

    LAWRENCE COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) — Firefighters across southern part of the county responded to reports of fire about 7 p.m. Sunday evening to BCP Ingredients, 299 Extension Street in Verona.

    Crews from Aurora Rural Fire Protection District and Freistatt Fire Protection District were able to make a quick knock down of the fire.

    The fire occurred in the building that grinds and dries corn cobs. The fire was in the dryer. At this time the cause is under investigation .”

    BCP Ingredients in Verona have faced violations and fines imposed by OSHA since 2021. In July of last year OSHA said BCP chemical plant continued to endanger workers .

    There were no reports of injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
