Car flipped on its side following a crash on I-84

VERNON, Conn. (WTNH) – A crash on I-91 Sunday evening left one of the cars laying on its side, according to the Vernon Fire Department.

The call came just after 6:00 p.m. when Vernon fire and EMS were sent to I-84 West, near Exit 65. Crews arrived to find two vehicles: one on all four tires and the other resting on its side.

The inhabitants of the cars were able to free themselves and were evaluated for injuries. Two lanes of traffic were closed while the vehicles were towed away.

The Vernon Fire Department noted that a number of onlookers driving by almost caused a second accident at the scene. They encourage all drivers to slow down when passing emergency scenes to keep drivers and responders safe.
