McGee teenager gets 33 years for killing brother
A Wayne County teenager will spend 33 years in prison for killing his younger brother. 19-year-old Williem Taylor, of McGee, was sentenced Monday to 30 years in prison for the Class A felony of first-degree murder and an additional three years for the unclassified felony of armed criminal action by 21st Circuit Court Judge Joseph Walsh III in St. Louis County. U.S. Route 67 road work
U.S. Route 67 in St. Francois, Madison, Wayne, and Butler Counties will be reduced to one lane as contractor crews perform pavement striping. This section of roadway is located from the Jefferson County line to U.S. 160 in Butler County. Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, March 27 through Monday, April 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
Lilbourn man arrested for a warrant
A Lilbourn man was arrested Saturday night in Wayne County for a warrant. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that 49-year-old Ervin Wesley was arrested on a warrant from the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office for felony dangerous drugs. He also had a probation and parole warrant for felony parole violation. Wesley was taken to the Butler County Sheriff’s Office on no bond.
Contracts awarded for bridge projects in Van Buren and Neelyville
Contracts have been awarded for multiple bridge projects in Southeast Missouri. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission has awarded a contract for a bridge rehabilitation on Route 60 over Current River in Van Buren and for a bridge replacement on Route 142 over Cane Creek Ditch near Neelyville. The over two million dollar contract was awarded to Robertson Contractors. Officials say that information regarding timelines, and impacts to traffic will be released prior to the start of construction.
Route 67 Striping Soon
(St. Francois County, MO) U.S. Route 67 in St. Francois, Madison, Wayne, and Butler Counties will be reduced to one lane as contractor crews perform pavement striping. This section of roadway is located from the Jefferson County line to U.S. 160 in Butler County. Weather permitting, work will take place Monday, March 27 through Monday, April 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The work zone will be marked with signs during this moving operation. Motorists are urged to use extreme caution while traveling near the area. Season Set for 2023 Missouri Elk Hunt
Below are portions of a news release from the Missouri Department of Conservation. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer five permits to hunt bull elk in Missouri this fall with at least one permit designated for qualifying landowners that own property in Carter, Reynolds, or Shannon Counties and the remaining permits for the general public. MDC has designated the elk archery portion to run Oct. 21-29 and the elk firearms portion to run Dec. 9-17. The five permits will be for bull elk with at least one antler being six inches or greater in length and will be valid for both portions.
