VALLEY MILLS, Texas ( FOX 44 ) – UPDATE: The search for hundreds of ostriches missing from a Valley Mills ranch continues.

Superior Ostrich tells FOX 44 News that they are thanking the public for all the support to find the ostriches swept away in the flood. A few have been found, but most of the 130 missing are still unaccounted for. Ranch owner Reg Lindberg chartered a helicopter on Tuesday morning and managed to find a few more.

This comes after Superior Ostrich announced on its Facebook page that hundreds of ostriches were missing from its ranch located at 1093 CR-3310 in Valley Mills. The ostriches are missing in wake of the Bosque River flood. The company is needing help from the public to safely get the ostriches home.

Reg Lindberg told FOX 44 News that the company was first made aware of this situation after a neighbor called and said he witnessed up to 50 ostriches floating down a river near CR-3310. He was also attempting to get helicopters or small airplanes to assist with the search. The ranch has also received calls from the public about some ostriches found dead near some riverbanks.

If you see any ostriches in Bosque County, you can contact the company at 254-294-7595, contact Lindberg at 214-514-3934 or send them a message. The public is urged to not approach any ostriches, as they might be scared or get defensive.

This is a developing story. FOX 44 News will have more information as it becomes available.
