The Rev. Lawrence Olin Watt recently published his book “The Historicity of the Old Testament Messiah By Whose Authority” through Dorrance Publishing.
The Upper Marlboro resident said he has “a strong belief that the truth of Scripture may be found in research of history, science, and geographic sciences. I know that there is a Supreme Creator who has given me guidance throughout my life journey.”
He said he has also invested his career working with teenaged men who have been evicted from their familial homes to “help them find worth and purpose.”
He also enjoys traveling around the United States in 1950s-era cars.

How long have you been writing?
I have been writing for publication since elementary school when I would write for the school newspaper. I have bee writing for publication in periodicals and book form since 1982. I have written articles for religious and antique automotive magazines. I have written papers for publication, and I have written two books, one for general publication, and one for private use.
What inspires you to write?
In the seventh grade I had a language arts teacher who thought it important that his students know how to do substantive research. He taught us how to use the Readers’ Guide to Periodical Literature, and how to appropriately document with footnotes and bibliographies.
Do you consider writing to be a career?
Writing can be a lucrative career. However, for me, it is more of a hobby, and a means to research and document information for church and public reading.
What kind of writing process do you use?
I begin by researching and reading information relevant to an idea, or subject. I take notes on 3-by-5-inch cards in order to determine where they fir in the article. After organizing the cards, I write a rough draft, and have a proofreader review what I have written.
How did you publish your book?
I complete the proof text. When that was completed I contacted a publishing company to review and print the book. After many more edits, reviews, and re-edits, we agreed that the book was ready for print and distribution
Who are some of your favorite authors?
C. S. Lewis’ “Screwtape Letters,” theologians F.F. Bruce and Carl F.H. Henry, Christian novelist Charles Martin and Sir Arthur Conan Coyle, Alfred Lord Tennyson, Harold Bell Wright, Robert Frost and Carl Sandberg.
What are you working on now?
I’m working on a biographical sketch of a WWII Love Affair, The Frey of Ishmael and his other five brothers.
Tell me about the book
According to the Dorrance Publishing website, the book is “the inspiration of Church Fathers, Church Councils, and the Roman Church was to impose a Church order. The Church Order resolved to bring separation between “oppressive Judaism” and the Grace of the Risen Lord. Examination of the history of the established Church and of the scriptural intent of the I am on current established theology does not support this pretense. The promises of Yehovah were for those who descended from Abraham, and those who chose to become his heirs according to the covenants made with them. Is the current teaching of the Church in accord with the six covenants, or were those covenants alleviated? Is the I am the same yesterday, today, and forever? Did He change His mind? Or is there a plan laid out in Scripture that we have ignored, altered, or misunderstood?”
