    April Tornado Outbreak Summary

    The National Weather Service in Springfield and Wichita have confirmed 11 total tornadoes in our area from April 26th-27th.

    April 26th Outbreak:

    Bourbon County Tornado:

    • A weak Ef-0 tornado occurred 3 miles NE of of Uniontown, Kansas from 5:29 PM to 5:32 PM.
    • This tornado had a path length of about 3.12 miles, with a width of 75 yards.
    • Winds approximately maxed out at 85 mph.

    Vernon County Tornado:

    • A weak EF-1 tornado was placed 3 miles NE of Stotesbury, MO from 6:07 PM to 6:13 PM.
    • Peak winds were estimated at 95 mph.
    • Tornado traveled 3.4 miles and had a width of 95 yards.

    Wilson County Tornado:

    • At 3:32 PM, an EF-2 tornado started up 5 miles west of Buxton, KS in Elk county and traveled to about 3 miles west of Fredonia.
    • Estimated peak winds were around 125 mph, and traveled 8.6 miles.

    Woodson County Tornado:

    • At 3:34, an EF-2 Tornado started 4 miles NE of Coyville and traveled 6.8 miles before ending up 4 miles SW of Yates Center.
    • Estimated peak winds were about 115 mph.

    2nd Wilson County Tornado:

    • At 3:52 PM, a weak EF-0 tornado was spotted 2 miles west of Fredonia and traveled 1 mile.
    • Estimated peak winds were about 85mph, and the max width of this tornado was about 150 yards.

    3rd Wilson County Tornado:

    • At 4:13 PM, a weak EF-1 tornado was spotted 5 miles east of Benedict and traveled about 1.3 miles.
    • Winds maxed out near 90 mph, and max width of the tornado was about 60 yards.
