Police find 'hidden rooms' with remote-activated doors in illegal gambling bust at LI delis, fish market

NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Authorities allegedly uncovered multiple "hidden" rooms—secured with remote-activated doors—as they busted illegal gambling operations at two delis and a fish market on Long Island.

The gambling machines were found Sunday during a quality-of-life initiative in Roosevelt and Uniondale, Nassau County police said Monday.

Following an investigation into illegal activity, police found two "hidden rooms" that had magnetic latches activated by a remote inside of Miguel’s Deli at 243 Nassau Rd. Police seized four gambling machines and $2,622. Rosa Galdamez, 47, was issued multiple appearance tickets.

The investigation also led officers to a fish market at 245 A Nassau Rd., where officers seized three gambling machines. Rafael Osorio, 27, was issued multiple appearance tickets.

Lastly, at Glaze and Grill Deli at 566 Jerusalem Ave., police found a gambling machine along with $214. Hezam Nagi, 39, received an appearance ticket.
