Name Released Of Man Killed In Black Hawk Crash
MEADE COUNTY, S.D. - A 42-year-old man lost his life on Friday, April 12, in a single-vehicle crash in Black Hawk, SD, Meade County. Preliminary details suggest that Nathan T. Wheeler was traveling northbound on Erickson Ranch Road when his vehicle veered off the road to the right, entering the ditch. The vehicle rolled over, ejecting Wheeler, who was not wearing a seatbelt. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

BLACK HAWK, S.D. (KELO) — Authorities have identified the 42-year-old man who was killed in a crash on April 12 in Black Hawk. The Department of Public Safety says Nathan T. Wheeler was traveling northbound on Erickson Ranch Road when the vehicle left the roadway and into the ditch. Wheeler was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
Parks department skips federal funding for shooting range to avoid additional site scrutiny
The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks wanted to use federal funding to help offset the cost of a $20 million shooting range outside Rapid City. That is, until the department learned more time was needed to analyze the site’s significance to Native Americans. Artifacts had been found, according to the state Tribal Historic Preservation Office familiar with the site.
Meade County Sheriff’s Office rescues 15 dogs from ‘neglectful owners”
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) - Last Friday, Meade County Sheriff’s responded to an address near North Haines for a report of animal abuse. Upon investigating, the sheriff’s office determined 15 dogs were not being properly cared for. They say several of the dogs appeared to be malnourished, being kept in horse trailers and other small enclosures on the property. The dogs were seized by the Meade County Sheriff’s Office and the two owners were arrested on animal neglect charges. The sheriff’s office did not release the names of those arrested.
