PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WMBB) – Senior Airman Marissa Brown joined the U.S. Air Force four years ago.

Currently, she’s stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base and part of the 325th Operational Medical Squadron.

She also serves her community as a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida .

She became a mentor, or ‘Big Sister,’ with the organization in 2022.

“I love her to death,” said Brown.

Brown’s mentee, or ‘Little Sister,’ Tia, is currently a senior in high school and getting ready to graduate.

“We have car picnics and we’ll talk and we’ll chat,” said Brown. “We’ll talk about next steps and I give her unsolicited advice.”

Brown called Tia her mini-me and is looking forward to continue hanging out and mentoring her after she graduates.

Brown said it is a big commitment but she absolutely loves being a role model.

“I’m a strong believer that you make time for things that are important to you,” said Brown. “Tia is very important to me.”

There are currently 18 children waiting to be matched with a mentor.
