LIST: East Texas high school graduations rescheduled due to weather concerns

TYLER, Texas ( KETK ) — Due to forecasted severe weather , school districts in East Texas are rescheduling or delaying their graduations.

KETK has compiled a list of known rescheduled graduations:

Big Sandy ISD

Big Sandy ISD announced on Thursday that their scheduled graduation from 8 to 9:30 p.m. would be moved to 6 p.m. The school said the graduation will still be held at the football stadium but district officials will continue to monitor the weather and possibly move the event inside.

Seniors will now be expected to report to the gym at 5 p.m.

Brownsboro ISD

Brownsboro ISD said on Friday that their graduation scheduled for tonight has been changed to 6 p.m. Gates will open at 4 p.m. and seniors are asked to check in by 5 p.m.

Bullard ISD

Bullard ISD announced on Friday that their graduation will be moved to 7 p.m. Gates will open at 6 p.m. and seniors are asked to arrive at the auditorium by 6 p.m.

Gilmer ISD

Gilmer ISD announced on Thursday that due to the strong possibility of inclement weather on Thursday evening, school officials have decided to move their ceremony to Longview High School’s coliseum at 8 p.m.

Seniors are asked to be at the coliseum by 7 p.m.

Hallsville ISD

Hallsville ISD said they have rescheduled their graduation to 8 p.m. on Saturday.

Henderson ISD

Henderson ISD said on Thursday that their 2024 graduation will proceed even if it rains. However, due to rain school officials might delay the start by one or two hours to avoid severe weather or lightning.

The scheduled graduation is on Thursday starting at 8 p.m. at the Lions Stadium.

Kilgore ISD

Kilgore ISD announced on Thursday that due to forecasted severe weather for Friday evening, the district’s graduation will now start at 5:30 p.m. Seniors are asked to be at the stadium by 4:45 p.m.

Lindale ISD

Lindale ISD announced on Friday that their graduation has been moved to Saturday at 9 a.m. Seniors are asked to report to the Lindale Early Childhood Center cafeteria no later than 8 a.m. Gates will open at 7 a.m.

“Forecasters are predicting that bad weather will be moving into our area and we want to give our graduating seniors our full attention and safety,” Lindale ISD officials said.

Pewitt CISD

Pewitt CISD announced that they will move their graduation ceremony to the Pewitt High School auditorium. Students are asked to be at the front doors of the high school no later than 6:30 p.m.

Pine Tree ISD

The school district said that due to the threat of lightning on Thursday, the graduation will now start at 8:30 p.m. at the Pirate Center.

Pittsburg ISD

Pittsburg ISD announced on Thursday evening that due to forecasted severe weather for Friday, their graduation ceremony will be moved to 6 p.m. Seniors are asked to be at the Jack Arnwine Gym by 5 p.m.

Pleasant Grove ISD

Pleasant Grove ISD announced on Friday that their graduation ceremony has been changed to First Baptist Church on 3015 Moores Lane. Doors will be open at 6:30 p.m. and graduation will begin at 8 p.m.

Rusk ISD

Rusk ISD announced that their scheduled graduation will be changed to 7:30 p.m. and gates will open at 6:45 p.m.

Tatum ISD

Tatum ISD said they will move their graduation from 8 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday. All seniors are asked to report at the high school cafeteria at 6 p.m.

Troup ISD

Troup ISD announced on Friday that their graduation start time has been changed to 7:30 p.m. Seniors are asked to report by 6:45 p.m.

Van ISD

Van ISD said on Friday that their graduation ceremony has been moved to Saturday at 10 a.m. Gates will open at 8:30 a.m. and graduates are asked to be at the fieldhouse by 9 a.m.

“We are making this decision out of an abundance of caution for our students, staff, and visitors, and in order to ensure we can give our students the ceremony and recognition they deserve,” Van ISD officials said.

Whitehouse ISD

Whitehouse ISD said their graduation ceremony has been rescheduled to 9 a.m. on Saturday. Gates will open at 8 a.m. and graduates are asked to arrive at the stadium no later than 8:15 a.m.
