Who you gonna call? The Ghost Patrol!
While Hocking Hills has its fair share of tours and services, one stands out as a unique outlier: The Ghost Patrol. The Ghost Patrol takes visitors into Hocking Hills, where they are able to learn about local history and later try to make contact with spirits that may inhabit the area. “I’ve always been fascinated with history, and I think that this is a fun way to get people excited about history,” said Stacie Hutton, one of the creators of The Ghost Patrol. “I think that history is not about memorizing facts and figures and dates and names, it’s really about investigation.” Hutton, an author and a Southeast Ohio native, believes that there is a natural connection between history and the paranormal. As a result, she ensures that the tour guide teaches the guests about the region’s rich history before diving into any ghostly activities. In order to find ghosts, The Ghost Patrol employs a number of methods. Among these are EMF readers, which detect fluctuations in electromagnetic fields, and spirit boxes, which scan through radio frequencies to produce static that spirits are supposedly able to manipulate. Sometimes, though, the ghosts have other plans. Hutton explained that a guest had
