NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A 14-year-old has been detained in the shooting of a 13-year-old outside of a school on Friday night. District Attorney Craig Northcott, who oversees District 14 (Coffee County) told WZTV Manchester Police Department officers were dispatched to Westwood Elementary School on Friday night in response to a shooting outside the school.

A New Music Choir Begins at Monteagle Elementary School
Monteagle Elementary’s new “Top of the Rock Choir” launched this fall after a summer of planning and organizing. This incredible feat was made possible by impressive community support and the collaboration between the Monteagle-Sewanee Rotary Club, the University’s Music Department, the AmeriCorps program, and the Office of Civic Engagement (OCE). According to the Monteagle-Sewanee Rotary Club website, the group’s charter aims to “encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise.” It achieves this goal in various ways, such as hosting annual Hunger Walks, starting a reading program at Monteagle Elementary, and, most recently, spearheading the formation of the school’s Top of the Rock Choir.

Sewanee Students Attend Interfaith Conference
This past August, two Sewanee students, Silas McClung (C ’24) and Stefen Rincon (C ’25), alongside the Interfaith House’s advisor and interfaith chaplain, Reverend Amanda Gott, attended the Interfaith America Conference in Chicago, IL. At the conference, attendees were able to meet students across the country to discuss how college campuses can best promote intersectionality and diversity in conversations about ethical and spiritual backgrounds.
Weekly Safety Report: Theft of Property and Identity Theft Reported in Manchester, Tennessee
There were two incidents reported in Manchester, Tennessee this week. The first incident involved theft of property from vehicles at Dave King Park during a sporting event. Several vehicles were vandalized and personal items, including identity documents, were stolen. The second incident reported was identity theft, which occurred in Franklin County. The victim's vehicle, along with others, was involved in the offense.
Macon Music and Mules Festival to Kick Off
The Macon Music and Mules Festival, once called Uncle Dave Macon Days, kicks off in Shelbyville’s Cooper Steel Arena on Thursday, September 28 through Sunday, October 1.
