Day of the Dead event celebrates 19 lives lost to gender-based violence in CT

Dances and music filled the restaurant, La Cocina de Sandra in New Haven, as the community celebrated Dia de Muertas — The Day of the Dead. “As a community, I think we don’t do enough to just hold space for our grief. And doing so allows us to understand and feel what each loss means.” said Vanesa Suarez, the founding director of Vivan Las Autonomas.
