North Carolina man arrested on attempted kidnapping charge
A North Carolina man was jailed last week after he allegedly attempted to kidnap a juvenile girl in the parking lot of a Williamson convenience store. According to Mingo County Magistrate Court documents, on June 1, officers were approached by the juvenile victim and a collaborating witness who stated that Moises Garcia Hernandez, 48, of Sparta, had initiated the incident at the 7-Eleven by “saying inappropriate comments to her and [grabbing] her trying to get her to go with him.”
3 shows set for Blackmon Amphitheatre this week

Yadkin budget hearing planned for Thursday
Yadkin County Manager Lisa Hughes will review the 2025 fiscal year budget at a special called meeting on Thursday. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers of the Human Services Building, located at 217 East Willow St., Yadkinville. There are no proposed changes to the county tax rate in the 2025 budget. Beginning at 7:25 there will be a public hearing on the Economic Development Funds Appropriation in the proposed 2025 Budget, followed by a public hearing on the proposed budget. The board is expected to vote on the budget following the public hearing.
