EHS Lady Elk’s Track Team finishes 1st in conference
The Lady Elk’s Track & Field Team won the Northwest 1A Conference Championship on May 2. Coach Clarence Edwards expressed his excitement, “these young ladies were very impressive. There were conference and school records broken, multiple personal bests, and an all around winning effort by all! GREENSBORO — Surry County tracks stars combined to capture three medals at the 2A Outdoor State Championship Meet. North Surry’s Ella Riggs led the county with two medals. Lady Cardinals headed to State Championship
East Wilkes Lady Cardinals are headed to play in the 1A NCHSAA State Championship in softball. The Lady Cards beat the Black Knights of Robbinsville 4-0 on Tuesday, May 21 as they hosted. The Cardinals then traveled the long road to Robbinsville on Friday, May 24 and won 9-6, claiming the Regional win in the best 2 out of 3 matchup. The Cardinals will now face off with the Panthers of Northside-Pinetown on Friday, May 31 at Duke University in Durham. Game time is set for 5 p.m. In the best 2 out of 3 matchup, the second game will be played on Saturday, June 1 at 11am and if a third game is needed, it will be played on Saturday at 5pm. The Cardinals are seeded above the Panthers and will be the home team in the opening game.
