Expect thunderstorms and gusty winds in 3 N.J. counties until Wednesday evening
A report was issued from the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 3:43 p.m. for thunderstorms and gusty winds until 8 p.m. for Sussex, Warren and Hunterdon counties. "Isolated showers and thunderstorms will move through this evening across northern New Jersey. Storms could produce gusts between 35-50 MPH. Cannot rule out some storms producing severe-level gusts up to 60 MPH. Seek sturdy shelter if you hear thunder," according to the weather service.
Sparta Eagle Scout Project to Provide Produce to Food Pantry
SPARTA, NJ – There was a lot of activity at the Sparta Community Food Pantry on Saturday morning as a team of 13, "mostly scouts," helped out with an Eagle Scout project. Noah Atkins of Troop 95 was wrangling his scout volunteers to help build six container gardens for produce to be grown for the food pantry clients. His idea, several months in the making, is to create a portable, manageable garden of vegetables. Flag Flies in Sparta for EMS Appreciation Week 2024
SPARTA, NJ – This week a flag celebrating National EMS week flew on the flag pole at the municipal building. This is the 50 anniversary of National EMS week. Coming Soon: A Road Named in Honor of Roxbury's Charlie Alpaugh
ROXBURY, NJ - Charles Alpaugh, an Army veteran and an icon of the Roxbury Fire Department who died last year at 86, will be honored next month with the installation of a street sign bearing his name. Randolph VFW Visits Township Cemeteries to Honor Veterans With Flags Placed on Graves
RANDOLPH, NJ- Randolph Townships VFW Post 7333 was honored to keep up their annual tradition of placing small flags at the headstones of Veterans who have been laid to rest in seven Township cemeteries on Friday, May 24th. Pictured in the photo above from left to right are Post Commander Angel Soto, Past District Commander Col. (Ret.) Steve Niblett, Jerry Rubin, John Freudenberg, Ken Lareau, Adjutant/Chaplain Deacon Rich Reck, Glenn Young, and Vice Commander Bill Menzel. On May 27th, the VFW Post will further honor the weekend with their annual Memorial Day ceremony at their building located at 103 Carrell Road. This will include prayers, a Rifle Salute and the playing of Taps. The ceremony begins at 11:00 AM and typically lasts about 25–30 minutes.
