Southern Defeats Toms River East 11-3 in Monday's Critical Class A South Matchup

STAFFORD - The Rams want to win the Shore Conference Class A South division. They got a strong game to continue to point towards that goal with Monday's 11-3 victory.

Gabe Tomei hit a bases-clearing triple in the bottom of the first to lead Southern to an 11-3 victory over Toms River East on Monday afternoon. That triple put the Rams ahead 3-1. The Rams scored a fourth run in the first on a sac fly by Logan Zeitler that brought Tomei home.

Mike Kaczynski hit an RBI double in the second to put the Rams up 5-1. In the third inning, Ray Mulhern's RBI single by Ray Mulhern put the Rams lead to 7-1 in the third inning.

The Rams continued the barrage with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up, 10-1, Zeitler had an RBI double in that inning.

Roger Dreher pitched a complete-game three-hitter for Southern with 10 strikeouts, one earned run, and three walks.

Southern's record improved to 8-1.
