UPDATE: Homicide investigation underway in Wicomico County
4:30 p.m. UPDATE: Deputies have released additional information regarding this homicide. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Brookes Lamar Dashiell of Salisbury. Wicomico County Sheriff Mike Lewis spoke with WMDT about the incident, saying, “It’s very, very sad, but this time of year we do have an uptick in the number of shootings because of the open air drug markets on various locations throughout the County . . . Whether they were dealing drugs or not, no one deserves to be shot and killed.”
The Murder of Cpl. Glenn Hilliard: Two Years Later
SALISBURY, MD - Today, June 12th, marks two years since the tragic killing of Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Corporal Glenn Hilliard. On June 12th, 2022, Corporal Hilliard was called to the Talbot Apartments in Pittsville where he attempted to take Austin Davidson, a wanted felon with multiple warrants, into custody. During the ensuing pursuit, Davidson turned and shot Hilliard with an illegal gun, killing the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy.
Salisbury-Wicomico stalemate over fire service continues as firefighters voice concerns
The stalemate over Salisbury's fire service agreement with Wicomico County continues, with the ongoing funding gap is still being debated. A statement released Sunday by Salisbury Career Fire Fighters Local 4246 stated "county council is looking to cut $600,000 from an already proposed and agreed upon amount of $2,000,000 between the county executive and city of Salisbury government, to fund fire and EMS services provided by the Salisbury Fire Department to the county portions of the Salisbury Fire district."
