Tigard City Councilor Jai Raj Singh resigns his position effective immediately

Tigard City Councilor Jai Raj Singh has announced he will resign his council seat effective immediately.

On Friday, May 3, Singh sent an email letter to the council, informing him of his decision. He did not cite a reason for leaving.

“I would like to express my gratitude for the opportunities and experiences I have had while serving on the council. It has been a privilege to work alongside dedicated individuals committed to improving the quality of life in our city,” Singh wrote.

The city will discuss plans for filling Singh’s position during a special meeting on Tuesday, May 7.

Singh, who works for an agency that promotes intercultural justice throughout Oregon, was elected to the council in November 2022.

His council term expires on Feb. 31, 2026.
