This small Fort Myers pizza shop has quietly become a neighborhood gem

Not much changes at McGregor Pizza Co., and that’s a very good thing. For the last nine years, Katie and Nir Marciano have grown their small but mighty pizzeria on McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers into a neighborhood gem . And they’ve done it one pizza and one hello at a time. “It was challenging in the beginning,” said Katie, who was “born and raised just down the street” from her pizza shop. “A lot of people around here just weren’t coming in.” Luckily, the Marcianos weren’t pizza-shop rookies, having just sold Amore Brick Oven Pizza in Gulf Coast Town Center. They weren’t looking to get back into the business when a friend told them the pizza shop — which had been Giovanni’s before becoming McGregor Pizza & Deli Co. in 2014 — was for sale. “I used to ride my bike around here,” Katie said. “And I always loved this building. It’s at least 100 years old now.” So the couple, who lived just down the street then (and still do), bought McGregor Pizza in 2017. “We started doing mailers,” Katie said. “We just wanted to get our menu to their houses, so we blasted the whole area. RSW expansion: Airport adds another new retail option for travelers

Changes are coming fast at Southwest Florida International Airport. Less than a week after airport officials gave the media a look inside the new 500,000-plus square foot Concourse E , expected to open late next year, another new retail store opened at RSW, adding to the growing list of changes when it comes to food and dining and shopping for travelers. RSW posted this on its Facebook page on Nov. 2: "We’re excited to announce the opening of our latest retail shop in Concourse D, Sanibel Market, as part of our ongoing Terminal Expansion Project. You can grab travel convenience items, snacks, Florida souvenirs, magazines, books and electronics." The opening of Sanibel Market comes less than a month after The Boathouse Tiki Bar & Grill opened in the main terminal leading to Concourse B on Oct. 6. And there's more to come.
