School of Rock House Band Students to Rock Summerfest in Milwaukee!
Dallas, TX – April 17, 2024 – The School of Rock proudly announces that its House Band students from sister schools in North Dallas, McKinney, and Rockwall have been selected to perform at Summerfest, the world’s largest music festival. This prestigious opportunity marks a significant milestone in the musical journey of these talented young performers.
Rockwall Philharmonic Kicks Off Concerts by the Lake, Thursday May 2
Rockwall, TX April 26, 2024 –Thursday nights this summer will be extra special in Rockwall as the city presents its annual series of Concerts by the Lake. Held at The Harbor between 7 and 9 p.m. each week from May through July, the concerts feature a wide assortment of musical artists. Opening the series on May 2 is the Rockwall Philharmonic, who will perform a Star Wars tribute concert. Come in costume with light sabers or come as you are to this family-friendly event.
Cars for CASA 2024
On Sunday May 19, 2024, the Metro East Division of the Dallas Builders Association will host its 19th annual Cars for CASA auto show to raise money for Lone Star CASA, Inc. This year the show will once again be held at the Rockwall County Courthouse. We have more parking places for entrants around the courthouse as well as spectator and trailer parking at the adjacent Rockwall County Library. In addition, there is a tremendous amount of green space and decomposed granite parkways between the rows of cars providing much needed room for participants shade tents. We are very excited about the fourth year at his venue.

PCCS Teacher of the Week
The Poetry Community Christian School (PCCS) Teacher of the Week is Kimberly Graves. Mrs. Graves began teaching elementary students in 2012 in public school and later enrolled their child at PCCS. It was then that she became interested in Christian education and teaching at PCCS where she started in the Elementary Support Services Dept. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M and a Master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction in 2016 with Honors; she is also a Barton Dyslexia Interventionist. She especially enjoys teaching the PCCS 1st graders who are full of energy and curiosity! She and her husband, Cory, have two children and attend Prairie Valley Church in Campbell.

National Volunteer Week
Rockwall, TX-April 23, 2024 – In honor of National Volunteer Week, the Rockwall County Extension Office recognized five exceptional volunteers who went above and beyond in providing service and leadership for the Extension program. These ladies collectively contributed more than 1800 hours of their time and effort. In the past year, 242 volunteers dedicated their time and energy to the Extension program, providing service hours valued at almost a quarter of a million dollars. During Tuesday’s Commissioners Court, County Extension Agent Todd Williams expressed his gratitude towards all the volunteers who made the Extension program a success.
