VIGO COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Law enforcement in Vigo County wants people to be aware of a scam that has been happening recently.

According to the THPD , the scammers are calling victims from a number that looks like it is coming from a law enforcement agency, and they are saying they are officers from THPD, Vigo County Sheriff Deputies, or federal agents.

The callers then tell the victim that they are part of an investigation and that money needs to be taken from their account to be sent to the agency. THPD also said to remember that no law enforcement agency will ever ask you for money.

If you have received these kinds of calls, you are asked to please contact the Terre Haute Police Department.
