Class of 2024 Expresses Gratitude to Tami Kadlacek from GEAR UP

The students credited her for going above and beyond to bring valuable resources to them and for working tirelessly to provide every possible opportunity for them to pursue their dreams and goals.GEAR UP, which stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, is a seven-year federal initiative aimed at increasing early college awareness, readiness, and success for low-income and historically underrepresented students. Tami Kadlacek's commitment to this program has evidently left a profound impact on the students she has worked with.
Groesbeck Chamber Awards First-Ever Scholarships
The Groesbeck Chamber of Commerce announced the recipients of their first-ever scholarship, awarded to two Groesbeck High School seniors on May 21 at Groesbeck Class Night. Hadyn Getz and Wesley Bush were each awarded a $500 scholarship. This scholarship highlights the chamber’s commitment to supporting the educational pursuits of local students and nurturing future leaders in our business economy. All of this was made possible from donations by our community through fundraisers conducted by the chamber. Bi-Stone Youth Volleyball Organization expressed their gratitude towards their seniors for their dedication and service by presenting them with a thoughtful graduation gift at Groesbeck Class Night, May 21. King & King Take Third in 3A State Mixed Doubles
Groesbeck High School's Kadyn King and Johnae King secured a solid third-place finish in Mixed Doubles at the 3A State Tennis Championships held on Thursday, May 16, and Friday, May 17. Despite a strong start, Tripp Burleson, another hopeful from Groesbeck, faced a tough challenge in the quarterfinals against Kell Castleberry of Vernon. Castleberry's skill proved insurmountable as he defeated Burleson 6-0, 6-3, ultimately going on to claim the Boys Singles Finals title, adding to his Mixed Doubles victory of the previous year.In a commendable display of teamwork and skill, Kadyn and Johnae triumphed over Louie Gutierrez and Natalie Rivera of Weslaco IDEA Pike in straight sets, 6-1 6-1. Their momentum carried them to the semifinals, where they faced Kymbree Hirt and Bryson Hirt of Wall. This was Kadyn’s second year in a row to reach the semifinals, though last year it was in Boys Doubles, while Johnae was eliminated last year in the quarterfinals of Girls Doubles. Despite a determined effort, Kadyn and Johnae fell short, conceding the match in two sets, 1-6, 3-6.However, their performance throughout the tournament earned them a respectable third-place finish overall, highlighting their talent and determination on the court.
