A Florida driver accused of leading police on a high-speed chase was caught hiding in a garbage can after crashing his car Monday (April 29). According to a criminal report obtained by WFLA , a Florida Highway Patrol trooper spotted 22-year-old Tayvion Lajuan Robinson speeding at 110 mph in a 60-mph zone on Interstate 275 in Tampa.

Officials claim Robinson was cutting through traffic from left to right near SR-688. When the trooper tried pulling him over, the driver allegedly started speeding to evade them . At one point, the suspect hit 147 mph and ran a red light on South Lois Avenue and SR-60, the report states.

Robinson reportedly crashed into a stopped box truck and caused a passing vehicle to lose control and nearly hit a sidewalk. The passing car recovered and didn't crash.

The trooper pursuing Robinson executed a PIT maneuver on the suspect's vehicle, causing him to spin out before stopping. Robinson and two other male occupants fled the crash scene, according to FHP. Eventually, officials found the 22-year-old driver hiding in a garbage can and took him into custody.

Robinson faces several charges, including reckless driving, fleeing to elude high speed, and not having a valid driver's license. He's also accused of violating his probation, reported revealed from another affidavit.
