Four-star Mississippi offensive tackle Mario Nash was excited to see Florida State offensive coordinator/line coach Alex Atkins visit his high school last week, and it apparently was another big step in the right direction for the Seminoles.

“I have always felt like a priority with FSU,” Nash told Warchant. “They are definitely one of my top schools. We have a very strong relationship.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Nash is a top-300 player in the country, as well as a top-25 player at his position and the No. 11 recruit in Mississippi.

Multiple Power 5 coaches have made their way to Kemper County High in De Kalb, Miss., to see the 6-foot-4.5, 270-pound lineman since his spring football practice started. That includes Clemson and Auburn, along with Florida State.

However, Atkins and the Seminoles seem to stand out with the four-star lineman. Nash said he especially likes talking with the FSU OL coach and his senior analyst, Gabe Fertitta. He got to spend a lot of time with both when he visited Florida State in April for what was at least his seventh or eighth trip to see the Seminoles.

“What makes FSU unique is the chemistry both Fertitta and Atkins have as a pair,” Nash said.

According to On3, the Mississippi standout only has two official visits scheduled so far, and those are to Mississippi State and Southern Cal. His official visit to USC will also be his first trip to see the Trojans.

Nash tells Warchant it is likely he will take an official to Florida State, however it will come during the season.

“We have a great relationship,” he said. “Coach Fertitta and Coach Atkins have been my guys since my recruiting began.”

According to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine , Florida State is a top team in this recruitment but lagging far behind in-state schools Mississippi State and Ole Miss. There is one RPM pick in favor of Mississippi State to land the De Kalb standout.
