Pittsburg High School student earns 3rd in state welding competition
PITTSBURG, Texas (KLTV) - Several East Texas teams participated in the Texas High School Welding Series State Build-Off in Waco this week, and the Pittsburg team placed in the top 40 out of 130. One student on the team, Omar Ortiz, won third place in the individual welding competition. He’s now set to receive a scholarship from Texas State Technical College, which hosted the event.

City council holds special meeting News Staff Wed, 05/22/2024 - 09:57 Image Body A special city council meeting was held Friday afternoon. The agenda included former city manager Ed Thatcher’s severance and to accept former Councilmember Jerry Dell Walker’s resignation. After reconvening from executive session, Councilmember Carl Hinton made a motion to approve the mutual release agreement between Thatcher and the City; Councilmember Jonathan Hageman seconded. It was unanimously approved. Walker’s resignation was also unanimously approved by the council. Hageman made a motion to accept, and Councilmember Kelly Redfearn seconded.
