Hundreds have moved into Belltown homes. Apartments and townhomes are next | Exclusive
Belltown has welcomed 275 families since construction began in 2023 , with nearly 300 homes built across the 305-acre mixed-use community between Karns and Powell. More than half of the 561 single-family homes planned for the development have been sold or are under construction, Belltown developer Josh Sanderson told Knox News, and prospective buyers have been put on a waitlist. Other forms of housing also are in the works. A 335-unit apartment complex is in the planning stages, and construction began this month on 185 townhomes geared toward people ages 55 and older. The townhome project is scheduled to wrap up in 2027, Sanderson said, and crews will soon begin building the next phase of single-family homes to be completed next winter. In total, 4,000 residents are expected to live in Belltown once the community is complete. Smithbilt Homes, the development company behind Belltown, has widened West Emory Road and added a traffic signal at the entrance to help address traffic concerns tied to the projected population increase. Private amenities for residents are finished, Sanderson said, including a pool, playground and clubhouse-style meeting area. Belltown plans to add a public park, which will have a playground, dog park, kayak area,

865 Neyland hotel to have members-only club, steakhouse with stadium views
The condo-hotel rising next to Neyland Stadium will feature an exclusive level where guests can watch Tennessee football from above while cutting into an Italian steak. The condo-hotel represents the final stage of the $288 million 865 Neyland project , a multi-purpose entertainment district starting construction soon. Tennessee athletics director Danny White shared a big update about the project Oct. 2 during Chancellor Donde Plowman's Advisory Board meeting, including a breakdown of the units: 186 hotel rooms, 51 luxury residences and 30 condo/hotel units. The open-air terrace shown in renderings will be a private club level, White said, and it will require a membership. The club area will include a "high-end Italian steakhouse," White said. His presentation noted the club level will feature "ticketed viewing of football games." The 24-story building , which will also have a rooftop bar, will be the "first customized hotel with a stadium experience orientation" in college sports, according to the presentation. It also will be tied with the Riverview Tower downtown as the second-tallest building in Knoxville, though it won't be considered a skyscraper . The city's tallest building is First Horizon Plaza at 27 stories. Along with the condo-hotel, 865 Neyland will feature
