Whether students are cramped in forced triples or off-campus apartments, there never seems to be enough space at Boston College. But it looks like the University might have just come up with a 760,000-square-foot solution to that problem. On Sept. 15, BC acquired the 17.6-acre EF International Language Campus in...

The board approved the project's variances by a 4-1 vote at its September 30, 2026, meeting, 16 days before October 16, paving the way for a building that will tower over the stretch of Revere Beach Boulevard where generations of locals once danced the night away.

Swansea residents face choice to preserve Stony Creek Farm | Exclusive
It was once a rural community of farms and forests. Today, Swansea has all but made the transition to a suburb, with higher-density development potentially in store . Soon, one of the town’s last remaining farms — Stony Creek Farm — could be permanently conserved, if residents so choose. An article at a Oct. 19 special Town Meeting would appropriate funds for that purpose. “To see it developed would kill me,” said farm owner Erin Babbitt. At Town Meeting, residents will decide whether to let the town’s conservation commission spend $430,000 to preserve 33.7 acres of Babbitt’s farm. Funds would come out of the town’s community preservation fund , which currently holds over $3 million, according to Advisory and Finance Committee chair Robbie Alford. Approving the restriction ultimately depends on the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs . Its success could be at risk, according to new Swansea town administrator Mitch Ruscitti , because the years-long grassroots process hasn’t been done completely by the book. “If this is what the community wants, this is a great project. But it needs a little more time in the oven,” Ruscitti said. Babbitt has owned the farm for a decade, hosting

Silvia faces Farris for state rep seat. Meet the candidates
For the first time in his political career, state Rep. Alan Silvia is facing a Republican challenger for his Fall River state House seat. Talos “Doc” Farris, the director of Veteran's Services for the city of Fall River, is running to represent the district as a Republican. Silvia narrowly beat current Fall River School Committee member Kevin Aguiar in a Democratic Party primary for the 7th Bristol District in 2012. He has run unopposed in every primary and general election since then. The 7th Bristol district is entirely within the city of Fall River. It includes most of the city south of Interstate 195 — excluding some neighborhoods around Route 24 — and a chunk of downtown north of the interstate. The Massachusetts House of Representatives is the state legislature’s lower chamber. It has 160 members, who are elected to two-year terms. The state general election is on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026. The Herald News interviewed Silvia and Farris for this story. Make yourself heard: How to cast your ballot early in Greater Fall River Silvia: Longtime representative proud of breaks with party leadership Who he is: Born and raised in Fall River, Alan Silvia served with the Marine Corps
